Looking for your "local" Police Team

March 2, 2017

The police don't have local teams any more i.e. "Goat Hall" (Moulsham Lodge)

It's Chelmsford & Maldon !

here is the website for info : https://www.essex.police.uk/your-area/chelmsford-maldon

Your Community Policing Team is made up of police officers, police Community Support Officers and Specials under the command of an Inspector and a Chief Inspector District Commander.

The team aims to protect people from harm, speak with communities about their concerns, gather information and help find answers to local problems.

District Commander: Chief Inspector Ronnie Egan

CI Egan attended the committee meeting at Overview & Scrutiny I chair last month here are the minutes :

Some key points from the meeting :

  • The rise in burglaries did not coincide with the reduction of PCSO’s as the increase had started before April 2016 when the number of PCSO’s had been reduced.

  • Domestic abuse figures had continued to be of concern and a reduction was a key priority for Essex Police. The Committee was also informed that in many cases it had proved to be difficult to obtain evidence which could then be taken to the Crown Prosecution Service. The Committee also heard that other outcomes were available and that one of the key outcomes was making sure that victims were now safe.

  • Preventing Child Sex Exploitation had been a challenging area but one that continued to be of the highest priority. The Committee also heard that gathering evidence in these cases was difficult but that a long running investigation had recently led to successful prosecutions.

  • The Police had to realign which local community meetings they attended but that one meeting a month was always attended and that the use of social media had become a key method for communicating on local issues.
