Students and parents of Moulsham High School know but you may not, that the school has now secured planning approval for new classrooms and a new hall or "Auditorium" plus two new smaller 3G Pitches. (Plans below of both)
So just so everyone is aware on Moulsham Lodge, I include the text from the letter home to Parents and carers, it said :
As you may be aware, the number of students we will be admitting to Year 7 from September 2018 is increasing from 252 to 270.
To accommodate these additional students, the school has secured significant funding which will be used to build a new hall, four science labs and a general classroom. At the request of Sport England, a second 3G pitch will also be built.
Work on these exciting new facilities is due to begin on Friday, 23rd March, and should be completed by 3rd January 2019. The first sign of this you will see is a compound being put up on the middle field opposite the existing 3G pitch. This will contain both the building works and the facilities that the contractors who work on them will need. It will be screened off from the school so that workers are unable to have any contact with students. Workers will arrive at 7.30am and leave at 4.30pm; they will be unable to leave the compound during these times. The only exceptions to this are five key contractors who have completed the necessary safeguarding checks.
All major deliveries to the site will arrive via Princes Road and come up the access road between Moulsham Junior School and Moulsham Infants School. These major deliveries will only be able to take place between 7.00am to 8.15am, 9.30am to 2.45pm and 4.30 to 6.00pm. Other daily access will be down Brian Close, although, once again, this will only be permissible at times when there is no risk to students’ safety.
Close liaison is taking place with the contractors to ensure that there is no disruption to public examinations due to noise from the build. If you would like to see further details of the build, please visit Chelmsford City Council website, ref :17/00875/FUL
We hope that disruption to the day-to-day life of the school will be minimal and are looking forward to being able to offer all of our students improved facilities which are long overdue. We will, of course, provide regular updates as to how work is progressing."
