743 Cars Speeding during school commute!

October 6, 2018

Dr David Jones and previously a Cllr on Moulsham Lodge for 0ver 20 years surveys the traffic issues on Gloucester Avenue

Official traffic measurements were conducted along Gloucester Avenue during a period of 7 days in May 2017. And this shows over 743 cars were speeding during the morning and afternoon school commute! And it doesn’t stop there, in total a staggering 4,692 cars were recorded as speeding over the same 7 days. We must do something about this. Attempts at employing a person on the crossing patrol have come to nothing, we’ve attempted to get a digital speed sign and a zebra crossing has also been put on the list, but red tape and funding are holding things up.

With these sorts of figures it is just a matter of time before a child gets hurt. As CEO of MLCT Cllr Mark Springett has been discussing whether they can offer a Community Speed Watch, it needs volunteers, are you interested in joining a Speed Watch Team ? You will be fully trained and supported by the Police. If so please contact Cllr Mark Springett - Contact email mark.springett@cmld.org.uk tel 07411 808731
